Welcome to Pembroke Aesthetics, where we understand the impact acne can have on your confidence and quality of life. Since acne is the most common skin condition, it usually affects everyone at some point in their lives. But in order to feel better about your skin and to avoid any potential scarring it’s best to get support treating it as soon as you can.
What Causes Acne?
Understanding the root causes of acne is essential. Acne occurs when hair follicles under the skin become clogged with sebum and caught up with dead skin cells. Sebaceous glands, which produce sebum to keep the skin from drying out, can exacerbate this blockage when they overproduce oil. Oil by itself is not a bad thing but due to hormonal influence it’s changes in composition and overproducing. The combination of the sebum and dead skin cells form clumps that cause the hair follicle to close. The surrounding tissues of the closed pores then become irritated, Propionibacterium acnes starts to accelerate and stimulates inflammation – skin’s immune response. Inflammation and swelling occurs. As a result we see outbreaks of lesions known as pimples or zits.
Acne Treatment Package
At Pembroke Aesthetics, we’re dedicated to helping you find the right treatment for your acne struggles. Our approach involves advanced techniques like chemical peels, which are often associated with anti-aging treatments but are incredibly effective in reducing acne and its scars.
But what exactly is a chemical peel? It’s a cosmetic treatment that utilizes non-toxic acids such as lactic, salicylic, and glycolic acid to exfoliate, brighten, and remove oil and dead skin cells that contribute to acne. By revealing smoother, clearer skin, chemical peels can significantly boost your confidence and improve your overall complexion.
Wondering if skin peels are suitable for acne? Absolutely. Peels are antibacterial, anti fungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory. They help to regenerate skin quicker, get rid of dead skin, regulates sebum production and speeds up skin cell turnover. They offer numerous benefits for acne-prone and scar-prone skin, including improving texture and tone, lightening dark spots, and preventing future breakouts by unclogging pores.
Whether you opt for a superficial peel with salicylic acid or a deeper peel, our treatments are tailored to your unique needs. Additionally, we offer LED therapy, which utilises blue light to target acne-causing bacteria and reduce redness, along with techniques like steaming and extraction to further enhance results.
